Meet Vacassin

Meet Vaccasin, co-owner of Yoga Point Brixton, Yoga teacher and practising Buddhist with over 30 years of experience. We are delighted to welcome Vaccasin to our community to lead a 4-week Meditation Course. Find a little more about Vaccasin ahead of the course.

Vaccasin, tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Vaccasin and I have been living  in Brixton, South London for 20 years. I have been running Yoga Point in Brixton since 2010. Before that I had a studio in Bristol and before that I was teaching yoga in London, so I have come full circle. I have three children, two of whom are nearly grown up. I love football, films and humorous moments.

How did your yoga and meditation journey begin and where has it taken you over the years?

I first started meditating in 1981 at the London Buddhist Centre. After a long journey, exploring various meditation practices, I  started living and working in Buddhhist community in 1986. It was there that I was introduced to Iyengar yoga. I have been practicing yoga and meditation since then.

What would be your advice to someone who is looking to begin meditation?

Try it out. Join a regular group.

How do you personally incorporate your meditation practice into your life?

I practice regularly and keep it as a reference point.

You are the co-owner of Yoga Point, a studio in Brixton. Tell us about the studio and your intentions?

Our intention is for Yoga Point to welcome all who come, to honour the practices of yoga and meditation and their heritage.  We see Social justice as being at the heart of these practices.

The past few years have been incredibly challenging for Yoga Studios, how do you find your meditation practice supports you whilst running a business?

Meditation helps but in all honesty, it is Rebecca, my wife, who has made the most difference.  Without her, I doubt whether Yoga Point would still exist.

You will be joining us to host a 4-week online introduction to meditation course. What do you love most teaching meditation?

The joy of sharing, it is not so much me teaching others but more that we need each other to inspire the practice.

What is next for Vaccasin and Yoga Point?

We hope to continue to recover from the pandemic and to grow the community around the studio. Hopefully we are providing a place where people can connect and find strength.
