Savasana Poem: Into the Darkness

Savasana Poem: Into the Darkness

Start by closing your eyes and taking a few moments to find a comfortable position.

Relax into the darkness. Relax into the stillness.

Focus your awareness on the different parts of your body relaxing.

Feel the ground beneath your body. Feel your breath floating in and out.

As you close your eyes to the light and embrace the darkness, allow your senses to awaken.

Let the sounds around you come to you. Without needing to identify these sounds, let them make their way into your awareness.

Notice the fragrances in the air surrounding you. Without needing to identify these fragrances, let them make their way into your awareness.

There is no need to fear the darkness that surrounds you. You are safe.

As we head into the darkest time of the year, let us reflect anew on the rhythms of darkness.

Day follows night, as night follows day. The seasons come and go. These rhythms of nature are as sure as the tides.

Joy follows sorrow, as sorrow follows joy. Out of the dark we came, into the dark we go. These rhythms of life are as sure as each breath.

May this season be a time of willing acceptance.

As we head into the darkest time of the year, let us reflect anew on the contrast of darkness.

The deeper the darkness, the brighter the stars. Light only shines in the darkness.

It is during our darkest moments that the light of loving kindness shines the brightest.

May this season be a time of loving kindness.

As we head into the darkest time of the year, let us reflect anew on the mystery of darkness.

As you close your eyes, open your mind. Step into the darkness of the unknown.

The darkness is the time when our minds come out to play.

May this season be a time of limitless imagination.

As we head into the darkest time of the year, let us reflect anew on the comfort of darkness.

The dark creates a quiet stillness, a rest from the all the activity that takes place in the light.

Rest your body, mind and soul as you find peace in the darkness.

May this season be a time of blessed rest.
